“SHE’S CHANGED MY LIFE” – WHAT THE CLIENTS SAY ABOUT CASMED CAREGIVERS
| 16.04.2025In the village of Camenca, in the Glodeni district, life continues at a gentle pace. Still, for many older people in the community, each day brings challenges that can feel insurmountable. Every morning can feel like a struggle when you can’t get out of bed, when you need help to light the stove, wash yourself, or take your medication.
But for eight residents of this village, things have taken a turn for the better. Dorina Dubischi has come into their lives – a caregiver at the “CASMED” NGO, who brings not only practical help but also human warmth, confidence, and smiles.
The home care service offered by the “CASMED” NGO is for elderly people with reduced mobility or those who can’t care for themselves. It includes assistance with personal hygiene, meals, paying bills, shopping, housework, etc. For more details, please visit: https://casmed.md/serviciul-de-ingrijitor-la-domiciliu/
Beyond these services, Dorina stands out for her empathy, energy, and dedication in every visit. But more than anything, what makes the difference is the person behind each visit. Dorina doesn’t just come with a care kit, but with empathy, energy, and an open heart.
We visited five of her clients and simply asked them: “What’s it like having Dorina around?” Their answers tell a more powerful story than any statistics.
Maria C., 82, lives alone after her husband passed away, and her children have moved abroad. We found her in the garden, tending to it while Dorina was hanging out the washing. Due to a fracture in her left arm two years ago, Maria can’t lift her arms, and simple tasks like hanging laundry, washing windows, or arranging curtains have become a real challenge. “Dorina comes twice a week, takes my blood pressure, gives me hand massages, and rubs. She also helps me around the house. I send her to the shop, to the medical centre for my medicine. She’s my daily support,” Maria told us.
Galina G., 82, says that despite her age, she considers herself lucky with her health. She’s never been in the hospital and hasn’t needed injections. However, she has leg pain and finds it difficult to get around.
“Dorina gives me a helping hand. I can’t walk to the medical centre, it’s right on the edge of the village. When I need something, she goes to the shop, brings me firewood, and helps me sweep up. Every time she comes, she takes my blood pressure and massages my legs,” Galina told us.
Ecaterina P., 71, lives with her husband. She has two sons, but they live far away and can’t visit their parents often. She suffers from heart problems and says that the help she receives from Dorina means a lot. “Such a girl… she’s like my daughter. She massages my back, sweeps the house, goes shopping, to the shop, to the market, wherever I need,” Ecaterina told us with a warm smile.
Nicolae G., 85, lives with his wife in a small but well-kept house. His wife has vision problems, and he struggles with high blood pressure. “Dorina gives me massages, does exercises with me, and helps with the housework. She sweeps, brings water, and washes the dishes. Without her, things would be much harder,” Uncle Nicolae explained.
Teodosia A., 86, lives alone and struggles, even when it comes to preparing food. Dorina visits her two or three times a week.
“She brings firewood into the house, lights the fire, brings water from the well, and washes my dishes. Without her, I don’t know what I would have done…,” Teodosia confided in us.
Dorina isn’t just a “home carer”. She’s a rare combination of calm, strength, energy, and empathy. In a single day, she climbs stairs, carries water, cooks, washes, listens to stories, and brings back hope. And what she does once, she does again and again, without expecting gratitude. With patience. With a smile. With heart.
