NURSING CARE SERVICES: A MORNING WITH CASMED‘ S NURSE, ALIONA BORDIAN
| 25.02.2025This morning, we accompanied Aliona Bordian, a dedicated nurse serving the village of Bilicenii Vechi in the Sîngerei district. Joining the CASMED team in February 2025, Aliona is our newest colleague. She provides vital home care to 14 elderly individuals, and her work involves regular visits and personalized assistance in managing their diverse health challenges.
Aliona’s journey to CASMED reflects a deep commitment to her profession. After 17 years at the Sîngerei Psychiatric Hospital, she took a 12-year break, but her passion for nursing remained. Now, with CASMED, she feels she’s fulfilling her true calling. “Seeing the satisfaction and improved well-being of my patients is what I enjoy most. It’s truly inspiring,” Aliona shared.
Our first visit was to the home of Mr. Anatolii G., a 60-year-old facing multiple health issues, including diabetes, hypertension, gonarthrosis, and coxarthrosis. He has already undergone knee replacement surgery and is awaiting hip replacements. Mr. Anatolii described the constant pain, exacerbated by weather changes, but maintained a remarkably optimistic outlook. “I’m incredibly grateful for Aliona’s help. I feel much better after her visits,” he told us.
Following blood pressure and glucose level checks, Aliona guided Mr. Anatolii through essential mobility exercises, which are crucial for maintaining joint flexibility and preventing stiffness. Typically, her care plan includes physiotherapy procedures like darsonvalization and magnet therapy, which use electrical currents and magnetic fields to reduce pain and inflammation. However, Mr. Anatolii reported foot pain, prompting Aliona to adapt the session. She replaced the physiotherapy with gentle rubs and massage, using soothing, anti-inflammatory oils and careful techniques to avoid discomfort.
Next, we visited Ms. Olga D., a 75-year-old recovering from a hand fracture, a common injury among the elderly due to bone fragility. Ms. Olga also manages knee pain and chronic hypertension. Aliona began by measuring her blood pressure, ensuring it was within a healthy range. She then assisted Ms. Olga with light-hand exercises to improve circulation and reduce stiffness, emphasizing the importance of regular practice, even with mild discomfort. Aliona’s encouragement was palpable, promising to monitor her progress closely.
After a brief rest, Aliona initiated magnet therapy on Ms. Olga’s knee, followed by darsonvalization on her hand. Ms. Olga experienced a gentle warmth and tingling sensation, indicating the therapies were working. Aliona explained that these treatments were crucial for regaining mobility and strength in her hand and alleviating knee pain.
Throughout the morning, Aliona’s dedication was evident. Her eyes reflected a genuine love for people, a passion for nursing, and an unwavering desire to help. She gave herself fully to her patients, asking for nothing in return. We left Bilicenii Vechi with deep admiration and respect for this extraordinary nurse.
